I spent a night at the residence post-surgery (septo-rhinoplasty). For 129 dollars I had no assistance whatsoever, no emergency number to call; I couldn't even call the reception because the number was nowhere to be found. The emergency button on the phone didn't work, either.

I preemptively ordered room service, which was due between 5 pm and 6 pm, but never came. Meanwhile I was starving, because I had had no food in 24 hours due to the surgery. I had to physically go downstairs to ask what happened to my dinner and why it was one hour late, while holding a gauze around my nose, and feeling groggy from the general anesthesia. They said it was ready, but they asked me again if I wanted chicken or beef... which sounds like a contradiction to me. I waited in the lobby for my tray to arrive, while my nose was already bleeding through the gauze. Unfortunately some other guest came to the reception, and I had to bring the tray to my room myself, holding the gauze with my other hand, and opening my room's door with my third hand. Some room service for 129 dollars. And the portions were ridiculously small, anyway. After two hours I was starving again.

I also suggested that the reception's phone number should be clearly stated _somewhere_, such as on the welcome booklet. People may not immediately guess that they have to dial 0: it's certainly not standard, as sometimes it's 1, but most of the time there is a special button on the phone, or at the very least there is a clear indication. The blondish young receptionist (I forget her name) repeatedly contradicted me, claiming that the number was indeed in the welcome booklet. Later I went back to my room, I thoroughly re-read the whole booklet from cover to cover, and no, the number is not there. There are just a bunch of useless numbers of managers, which of course redirected me to their voice mail.

The morning after I checked out as soon as I could, and I left the residence in disgust at 6 am. I went home and finally had a decent breakfast.

A word of advice to this arrogant young receptionist: if a guest who pays 129 dollars a night (total ripoff, by the way) comes with a complaint, you apologize and send a note to the manager. You don't contradict him and lie to him, especially if you don't have a clue what you're talking about.

It costs about $800 a month to have your dinner provided but you would be better off eating for free at the Mission or in a prison. I'm tired of hearing my grandmother complain about the food. I think they just heat everything from frozen. Yesterday she had no dinner because they didn't bring it to her room like they promised several times. They recently gave her a hamburger with a burnt bun. You'd be better off ordering out everyday if you live here.
